Boxed Up And Shipping New Boxum Game For Kids
A new take on the numbers game is being released by T.J. Gear Co., as the company today announced the release of BOXUM Alphabet Animal Zoo.
Cocoa, FL July 1, 2004 -- A new take on the numbers game is being released by T.J. Gear Co., as the company today announced the release of BOXUM Alphabet Animal Zoo.
A result of the rising popularity of T.J. Gears strategic numbers game, BOXUM, the company created BOXUM ALPHABET ANIMAL ZOO, a child-friendly version that incorporates interesting themes and learning elements into the traditional strategy of the game.
Pete Bell, creator of BOXUM and Director of New Products at T.J. Gear Co. said, The overwhelming reception BOXUM has received since its release sparked the idea for BOXUM Alphabet Animal Zoo. We designed the new game to appeal to younger players while remaining entertaining for older players and adults. It is important to us to create games that appeal to various generations without compromising the strategic elements and quality of game play.
To play BOXUM Alphabet Animal Zoo (2-4 players, MSRP $24.95), players must box-in the letters on their individual game boards. To do this, a player spins the Alphabet Spinner to land on a letter or "special move." If the spinner lands on a letter of the alphabet, the player then places a foam peg on any side of that letter. However, if the letter is already boxed-in, then the play becomes a pass and moves on to the next player. If the spinner lands on BOXUM One Free Side, the player is able to place one peg anywhere on the game board. Once a player boxes in any of the alphabet letters on their game board, the player covers that box with a BOXUM cover card. The first player to box-in any letters on their game board wins first choice of the animal characters in the ZOO that correspond with the boxed-in letters (for example: the player that first boxes-in "CD" can choose either the Cow or Dog.) The first player to box-in the complete alphabet on their game board wins the game and all of the remaining zoo animals!
"BOXUM Alphabet Animal Zoo is a great game for improving childrens letter recognition, reading skills, logic and concentration," said Bell. "Parents enjoy the game not only for their kids to play, but also to play along with their children, as it incorporates elements of chance and spurs interaction."
T.J. Gear Co. was founded by Pete Bell in 2004, with the creation of BOXUM. The idea for the game came to Bell in a sudden flash while in his Naples, FL home. From BOXUMs birth, Bell began to place the game into retailers in the Orlando area. Since then, the game has been placed in stores across the country. Bell started international distribution of the game in Puerto Rico and it is now sold in several other countries throughout the world. When Bell teamed up with computer programmer, John Carpenter, an Internet download version of the game was born and the current plans are to use the electronic version for online tournaments. Determined to stay true to his vision, Bell has turned down offers from reputable toy manufacturers in order to maintain complete control over the directions BOXUM will take. The company's core philosophy forms the foundation from which BOXUM was created and the company built: to provide products that will be an enjoyment to the public for many years to come and to bring prosperity to as many as possible.
